June 2012
June was a very busy month this year. Besides the German Masters event, Irina also played in the BDO International Open where she lost in the last 8 to the eventual winner, Deta Hedman, the English Open where she lost in the last 4 to the eventual winner, Anastasia Dobromyslova, and in the Granite City Open where she was runner up losing again to Deta Hedman.
These results have proven good for Irina in all the ranking tables that matter. First in the German rankings, second in the WDF world rankings and in the first qualifying place in the BDO Lakeside Invitation table. With only a few events left a return to Lakeside is looking good although some work is still needed as it is all very close. German Master Title Retained
Irina retained her German Masters title she first won in 2011. The tournament is the last of the ranked events to gain selection for the German team to play in the WDF Europe cup. Irina`s win cemented her place at the top of the DDV national rankings nearly 1,300 points ahead of second place and also confirmed her spot in the German team travelling to Turkey later in the year. Last Updated ( Thursday, 12 July 2012 13:28 ) Irina Retains Open Denmark title
Irina successfully defended her Open Denmark ladies singles title at the weekend when she beat Rachna David from Norway in the final. Having lost the first leg of the day, Irina went to the final having lost no others. But in the final she quickly found herself 2 - 0 down due to missed doubles, but remained calm and took the next 4 legs to keep the title she won last year. Mariflex Open 2012
What a difference from last year..... First round losers last year, Irina and Deta Hedman, put that right this year with both of them reaching the final. Deta coming out on top leaving Irina to settle for runner up. The second place moves Irina back into 2nd place in the WDF world rankings, with Deta leading the way. |
