Irina continued to improve on her overall lead at the top of the DDV rankings ( German rankings ). Already over 800 points ahead of second placed Marene Westermann a 2 sets to nil ( 2 - 0, 2 - 0 ) against Marene in the final earned Irina her 6th victory in under a year and  will increase her lead to over 1000 points in the rankings when they are next published.

Having finished runner up in 2011, it was going to be hard with the numbers in Glasgow to emulate that. Irina almost did exactly that, losing in the semi final to Julie Gore. The pleasing thing was that despite losing to Julie and despite the first two legs being below par for both ladies,  Irinas average was of a very good standard overall.

Overall not  a bad result for Irina at this years Dutch Open. More importantly a feeling that her game was beginning to improve overall. Irina made the last 8, where she started very well against eventual event winner Julie Gore only to watch as Julie took the deciding leg with a 140 shot.

Irina improved over her last 8 performance in 2011 by reaching the final in 2012. The result improved both her WDF world ranking points and also helped to increase her lead in the German Ranking table.
